Jewelry Creations - Vintage Glass
I continue to steadily make pendants and some other little things from broken dishes I receive from people. Here are some of my favorites that I made more recently. These were made as gifts or special order items.
This ornament is made from a Hazel Atlas glass from a broken mixing bowl.
Pendant made from shard of German fairy tale plate, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Time for some Finds!
We've been going out, finding some treasures and some practical things. My most exciting piece is probably the 9.5" minty Cathrineholm bowl I got for a great price. Hubby has been working on his tiki collection. Most Pyrex is for my trade list or reselling at a fair price to locals--gives me an excuse to continue to pick it up! But I still leave A LOT behind!

Pink and Blue Pyrex
I've acquired some fantastic Pyrex pieces lately. My luck to get the small JAJ Gaiety in pink and white snowflakes from a fellow collector and a Starburst at the behest of my sweet husband who thinks I can't have too many anniversary gifts! It's very exciting to get this Starburst space saver, I have to confess that I wasn't going to rest until I finally got one!

Vintage Swedish China Cabinet
I have in all my years never owned a china cabinet. I always expected to have one. It wasn't a priority and I wasn't in a hurry to get one. I always felt like it was one of those things I wanted to buy only once. The past 6 years I've really been stepping up my search. I knew what I wanted and I knew what I DIDN'T want to pay for one. The past year I was starting to let that feeling of hopelessness enter. But low and behold, a few days ago as I was leaving a vintage shop-- right by the door was my dream cabinet! We brought it home yesterday and today I anchored it to the wall, cleaned it up and selected things to put in it. I left the sliding glass doors off to take the picture and avoid the reflection. I'm so happy with this little Swedish cabinet and I'm even happier I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg! I let hubby ceremoniously hand the cashier the credit card, he's been wanting to buy me something to commemorate our anniversary in less than a week.

Vintage Trades - McKee and Starburst
I haven't been trading so much recently. Not much I want, or what I want no one has, or I don't have what people want to trade for what they have that I want. All of that make sense? haha! I did have people contact me though who said they have things on my list! And so I added to my McKee fridgies...
And also now have the yellow Fire King splash proof bowl to go with my red and green. Very excited to get this huge minty Franciscan Starburst chop plate too! It was great unloading some things that were in my trade pile at the same time!

Vintage Pyrex - Mod Kitchen with Cradle
Mod Kitchen is one of my favorite Pyrex patterns. Appeals to that part of me trained in commercial arts during that period of time when such graphics were popular. I love hunting for Pyrex out in the thrift stores, and finding cradles is equally exciting. A couple days ago I came upon a cradle for Mod Kitchen. As most vintage cradles go, they don't look so great, so a clean up job was necessary. Here she is with the dish.
Cork handles before and after a wipe down with a rag dampened with water.
I use a combination of BKF and 0000 steel wool for the metal. The end result will depend on the condition of the cradle--some just never come back even after cleaning. And they are not restored to their original condition, but can be much more visually appealing.
Here are some before and after pictures of a rooster cradle I recently cleaned up.

Time For Friends - Vintage Dishware for Two
I never seem to have an idle moment. And time can move so rapidly that before I know it, time with friends seems so distant. I made a point to set a date with a friend to come over today. We enjoyed nibbling and talking. We share interest in many of the same vintage things. It was a perfect time to enjoy using the Taylor Smith Taylor dishes I recently picked up at the thrift store. I mixed them with with some other vintage dishware I have.
