Vintage Style Front Room in my 1958 Ranch

I'm slowly decorating my front room since I decided to go girly with it.  Here are some pictures.  My custom made drapes (sewn by my friend)  are going to be delivered today, so there will have to be an update in the future.

I always work on a budget usually figuring out how I can spend the least amount possible. Some things I found at the thrifts...some things like the Pyrex Starburst and Hip Haven planter were special occasion purchases and the Haegar lamp I got in a trade.  My friend made me pillows from vintage fabric and I made the slip cover from vintage heavy polyester.  Sofa table is actually reconfigured from one unit into two pieces of the same height.  Vintage runner, ceramic figurine and planter are more little thrift store pieces.

The sun came over to this side of the house and lit up my room.  Yes, I already have a tree up and it is only December 1st.  I found this tree and light wheel at a local antique store.  I rarely go to them so I got lucky on this day as they were on sale. Vintage thifty finds and a late 18th century table I brought back from Germany many years ago are all things I've fallen in love with.

Close up of goodies under my tree.  Thrifted items like the German hand embroidered Christmas table cloth, angels and star ornament are typical of the little treasures I love to find.  The bunny ballerina was a stocking stuffer from my husband many years ago. I still have work to do in this room.  I can't wait to hang my new retro drapes!

Evergleam Crimped Aluminum Tree and Turquoise Balls

I'm keeping it simple this year.  My 4' Evergleam aluminum tree with thrifted turquoise glass balls.  I redecorated my front room this year with mid century finds and styles and excited to add the tree this holiday season.

A Little Vintage Ornament Wreath - Pink, Green and Gold

I've created a new challenge for myself and that is to make wreaths less that 12 inches.  This one is seven inches. I forgot I drafted this post months ago!

Thrifty Vintage Christmas - Plastic Deer

Quick post--my days seems all to short.  Hubby spied some vintage deer at the thrift and they ended up on my coffee table with last years bottle brush tree I decorated.

Life's Interruptions - Getting Back into the Swing of Things

So, I've been catching up on some glass work that I had to put off due to illness last month.  I HAVE
to learn how to slow down because I think it was a matter of time before things caught up with me.  And even though I try and stay healthy and eat well, I have to step it up a notch in order to ensure I feel the best I can.  I've thrifted a little and still trying to keep my buying in check.  Had fun working on some exchange pieces for people that sent me glass and even managed to finish a pair of earrings I'm putting up for sale--they've been sitting since August.

Shard from Hazel Atlas Kitchen Utensils  2.5" glass

Made from a shard of Pyrex Golden Grapes 4.5" glass

Pyrex Butterprint 475 shard 3" glass with vintage ribbon and beads.

Necklace pendant from shard of Fire King Peach Lustre wired in sterling silver.

Pyrex Pink Gooseberry Earrings wire in sterling silver with amazonite and freshwater pearls.

I'm limiting my use of vintage opal dishes in the kitchen and opting for melamine mixing bowls since they are lighter and easier on my hands.  I've been picking up clear vintage bake ware and recently I found a set of 4 Maid of Honor custard cups.  A turquoise Maynard hand mixer and towels also very handy and will be used.  Happy little finds.

Shepard's pie nightshade free with sweet potato mash.

Love the round Pyrex casseroles.  I'm replacing my opals with clear.  I'm cooking more than ever, my diet requires everything from scratch and well, I have to be able to toss stuff in the dishwasher.  Clear vintage Pyrex came in shapes and  sizes that there are no opal equivalents for, so that's neat--additional variety.

Happy to be back at things, when I couldn't physically do much I did a lot of reading.  So I still managed to not be idle!

Hazel Atlas Glass Ornament

I made this lovely ornament from a shard of a Hazel Atlas punch bowl.  I continue to receive shards from collectors who can't bring themselves to tossing them in the garbage.

Color in my Kitchen - 1958 Ranch

The older my kitchen gets, the more I love it.

Hubby harvested from the garden.

That thrifted Krenit bowl came in handy!
