I love those moments when the sun comes into my house and lights things up.  This morning it was the row of Fire King mixing bowls on my kitchen peninsula.

Pyrex Gourmet Promotional Casserole in Black and White

I was chatting with a fellow collector who asked to purchase something from me.  We were getting towards the end of the conversation when she said "look what I found today".  I told her that was one of the things on my wishlist for sometime now.  Instead of her doing a purchase we did a trade.  Both of us were very happy!

A new variation on this pattern became available on a third 475 casserole during the mid 1960s.  With a plain opal background, the decoration is printed in black rather than gold, and the in-between bits of the design are absent.  It uses a different candle-warmer too, the same one that belongs to the Zodiac Casserole.
      
The black & white version could be purchased from direct-selling catalogue companies like Popular Club Plan.  Its original box has no name on it at all, so it might not be officially named "Gourmet Casserole".

Pulling in the Reins - Pyrex Finds

I've been collecting Pyrex for years and it's been fun.  The hunt is still exciting, but there is a limit to how much I can bring home and retain in my collection.  I've traded a lot and sold a little,  all of which is time consuming.  It's feeling like too much stuff, so I've been purging and putting more for sale and have donated to my favorite animal rescue charity.  But naturally, there will still be a handful of things I can't resist when the price is right or it is something one of my locals wants.

I've picked up 3 primary 402s over the years.  I've used one in place of a Friendship 402 for the longest time.  I finally found a Friendship 402.

Could not resist this beautiful red 026 Casserole.  The Golden Pine space saver I have, but picked it up for a local collector.

I never have luck finding pink Pyrex that's in good condition.  Hubby scooped this pink 501 up out of the bottom of a bucket one day.

Another rare thrift store find for me.  Over the years the only space savers I find are those with gold decoration--Golden Pine, Green Wheat and Golden Acorn. This is my second snowflake in the past couple months. I was expecting it to be priced high, but with my coupon, I got it for $3.19.

So fortunate to stumble upon this pair of Lefton Bluebirds egg cups.  Gotta love the 99 cent price tag plus 10% discount!

Yay For Trading - Cathrineholm Yellow Stripe Bowl

A few days ago a trader asked if I would trade one of the Pyrex items on my trade list for a yellow striped Cathrineholm bowl and I said "absolutely!!!"  Very surprised and happy to add this beauty to my collection.
