This set of bowls was the only mixing bowl set I longed for in my collection. I pretty much have stuck to getting my Pyrex from thrift stores and trades. I thrifted the second (402) bowl, traded for a small (401) bowl and tried for over a year to get a 403 bowl. I gave up and traded away the two I had. After taking a break from trading for a while, I have been able to get some of the harder to come by pink pieces. These pieces have come easily one after another. Here is the minty set of pink stripe bowls I received last week.

United Fireplace Clock
I've seen one of these clocks on line, in fact, there is a You Tube video of one in action. I saw this one in the cart at the thrift and tested it to see if it worked then hunted hubby down to show him. His response, "I have to have it". And so he did. And me? Well, I spent the next two days cleaning it.
This picture illustrates how dirty the clock was. I took the front off the fireplace and cleaned it. Quite a difference.
You can see how much build up is in the flowers on the the left hand side.
All cleaned up and reassembled. Amazing how realistic the flames look when it is in motion!

Pyrex Pendant - Woodland
I received glass shards from a 444 Pyrex Woodland bowl from one of the girls in our Pyrex trade group. Had lots of fun creating this pendant for her. It's unfortunate that things get broken in transit, but creating something from it feesl like a little of the damage has been undone. Hope it brings her lots of good Pyrex juju!

Pyrex Trades and Vintage Finds!
Wow! Trading Pyrex can be so awesome! Checkout what I got more recently. I so want a couple of cradles for my special pieces and I posted my search for the 473 Embroidery cradle and one of my fellow traders responded! I still can't believe I've got this set completed! Who couldn't love a set of aqua refrigerator dishes! The snowflake is the last snowflake space saver I needed.
And it only got sweeter with pink and this darling vintage piggy bank!
I was so excited to find a lid for my Glasbake piece. It needs a good cleaning with some oven cleaner, the grime is baked on good.
Lots of great critter kitsch!
Uber cute big headed kitty and a policeman piggy bank, I love his belt with buckle!
Another piggy bank, it says his, hers and ours. Funny thing is there is only a hole to remove coins under "hers".
Picked up a couple of these enameled metal BBQ platters, love the graphics!
A bittersweet find, a lovely Catherineholm ice bucket at a steal, BUT!--the lid is missing. We keep going back in hopes it will show up.
I continue to be busy trading and selling off chunks of my Pyrex collection. It's fun and exciting and tons of work! It's great to send people pieces they so want that you no longer wish to hang on to. That in itself is very gratifying!

Thrifty Vintage Finds - Fun Stuff!
Picked up some fun stuff recently. As always, don't NEED these things, but got them anyway!
This was a surprise find! I had the opportunity to buy a Catherineholm bowl before, but I passed it up. I think they are neat, but I just wasn't feeling it. Today I ran into this Arabia bowl and had to have it! Sweet price of $4! Couldn't beat that!
And speaking of mushrooms, hubby found this oh so 70s wall plaque. It will go in the laundry room with the other 60s-70s decor. He wouldn't leave the giraffe behind either!
Love this Lucite Wondermold potholder hanger. It has hardware attached to hang 3 potholders. Such a bright and cheerful flower! Gotta find a place in the kitchen to hang it!
Hubby also found these glittery Lucite swordfish wall plaques. We have a set of Lucite abalone dolphins already...these will go along with those in the marine themed bathroom.
And lastly, this is something we saw and didn't pick up. But we talked about that evening and decided we would go back and get it if it was still there. I had to take pictures of different angles. This little Indian boy has real fur, feathers and suede along with seed and bugle beads. It appears he was mounted on something at one point. We just found him to be adorably sweet and funny at the same time. The way his hands are on his hips have a kinda "are you done yet" vibe to it.

A couple of vintage copper Egyptian plates to hang in the library. These are pretty neat! The original price tag is still on the back--we can't read it.

Plenty of Thrifty Finds This Week! And Pyrex too!
I found 3 McCall's Needlework and Crafts magazines from the 60s and 70s. They are all winter editions so they have holiday stuff in them which is what I look for, so that was a great find for me.
This little donkey feels like it's chalkware. It has a label--hand painted Tinkerware from Moorcraft in England. This particular figure is named "Fawn". I found the male counterpart on Etsy. I could not leave the thrift without taking this little gal. I tried. Maybe you can understand why when you see her at her different angles.
Vintage Lefton Owls from a garage sales for 25 cents each! They were dirty and dull and now they shine. They will go in the laundry room with the other 1960s vintage kitsch! I want to find some mod flower curtains one of these days for the windows in that room.
I thought this flocked ceramic wall pocket was neat. It's about twelve inches wide at the top. I have this faux Boston fern tucked in it.
We scooped up the following stuff today. Not a lot for the amount of time and miles we put on our feet, but it was all worth it for a few great nuggets!
I was so happy to get my very own brass jack! This one is a bit rough as you can see the seams, so it's not one of those high end ones, but I certainly didn't expect that for what I paid. Here's another picture next to the chip and dip.
Hubby didn't get it AT ALL! He was like "you're gonna buy that?" I told him "I've seen them on ebay, it's mid century modern sculpture". He looked it up and I think he's feelin' it now.
I've got some thing with vintage ceramic pillar candle holders made in Japan. Found these today, 50 cents for the gold and 99 cents for the red make it too hard to pass up. They are dirty and have wax on them, I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

I couldn't help but pick up this unopened made in Japan painting and easel dated 1968. I'm fascinated by things in their original packaging. Like you just plucked it off the shelf. And the other little painting to the right was 50 cents. It was only when we dropped back in the store a second time on our way home, and it was still there I decided I would get it. I think this impressionistic gourd, apple and corn on wood is rendered beautifully! I love paintings where you can see and feel the texture.
The painting is residing with other vintage finds on the kitsch katcher!
Well! What a day. I'm looking forward to relaxing a little. Thrifting is a lot of work! Think I'll head over to Pyrex Collective III and post my finds for last week. You can check it out here!

Latest Vintage Finds - Slim Pickin's
I finally scrounged up enough finds to bother with posting. Thrifts are pretty dry right now which means I spend more time looking for practical things like GU10 light bulbs that I really needed (and I found some!) Here are some of the highlights of my finds!
A collection of vintage German glass glitters, some green poly glitters and pink and white loose flocking. I love all the glass bottles--the little ones are about an inch an a half tall.
This was probably the most exciting of all my finds. Even the box is cool! It is the box for an Acon range finder camera made between 1956-1958 and it is in excellent condition! Inside the box is this...

And old envelope from Favor, Ruhl & Co.
With silver glass glitter inside.
I was on the look out for a caddy for the 8 vintage glasses I got last week. I got one that I thought was pretty nice.
But then I discovered one of the glasses was slightly smaller and wanted to slip out the bottom! I decided to keep this one anyway. I'd like to get a mixed set of glasses for everyday. That way as they break we can buy new ones.

Didn't take me long to find this one. It has a nice wood handle and I like the chevron design. I also found a couple Prolon serving bowls in turquoise.
These have the same shape as my Vernonware pottery bowls.
Hubby found these little guys...
They are pottery craft by "Rose V." bless her heart. She should be pleased to know that her handicraft is in a home that loves it. There is a small glass marble in the eye of the smaller fish, we may go for putting rhinestones in--have to see how that looks. They are only about 3" and 4", the larger one is a wall planter, I'll put some faux-liage in it.
I'm going to link with Sir-Thrift-A-Lot at thriftasaurus, surely there is more going on over at the thrifting party than here on my blog!
