I'm having too much fun with my new pink Pyrex collection that I moved into the kitchen. Today I made French onion soup, just had to snap a picture! I wish I had better lighting, but oh well. If you aren't familiar with Vernonware, it's vintage pottery dishware from California. The bowl pictured is called a 'chowder bowl'. Because it is in the foreground, it looks twice as big as it really is. This bowl goes to the Tickled Pink pattern. Some of the pieces have a pattern and some are this speckled pink. I picked up just these oval/eclipse shaped bowls in both pink and blue, the blue are from the Heavenly Days and Anytime patterns.
Love the bowl. Is it like melamine? I have a few pieces of that and I enjoy using it. I love how it is called a chowder bowl. Also enjoy seeing that Pink Pyrex in Action!
ReplyDeleteKatyeeJane, the bowl is pottery, it is not very thick, has a silky matte finish. I also have serving bowls in 3 different sizes. I found two chowder bowls at the thrifts and then bought many online. I love them for everyday use. Vernonware also made some other patterns from these molds.

Beautiful! I love vintage California pottery-which is something I actually do occasionally find in my thrifts. I don't have Vernonware, it is gorgeous! I love the shapes of the California pottery-for example I found a chip and dip serving dish that is in the shape of a crab. So fun!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Maureen, I get so weak for California pottery, I really have to talk myself out of not buying much of it because I don't have the space. It is hard though--that chip and dip sounds fantastic--definitely sounds like one I would take home!
