I've picked up some things the past few days. A lot of looking, but there wasn't much out there. That was okay because I found some Franciscan pottery, the patterns I won't pass up. It's hard for me to come across the pieces of Franciscan I'm interested in (or weak for), so any of those finds are always great finds for me!
I will pick up any pieces of Franciscan Duet that I come across. Of course, Starburst and Oasis are at the top of my list, but I never expect to see them. I got this divided child's plate in Duet. I'll use it for a relish dish. I will pick pick ANY Franciscan pottery mugs when I find them, again--it's rare I run into any. I found these two Autumn Leaves patterned mugs for 89 cents each!!! I have one already, that brings me to three!
Kitsch is always in order. Hubby picked up these guys.
Cute Napco mouse piggy bank and a porcelain whale diving into a wave. There are no markings on the whale thingy, I haven't tried to look it up, but it's just cute. We'll have to work that into the marine themed bathroom.
I found a couple cute things myself...
Who could pass up a reclining Kewpie? Well I did, last week. It was priced way too high. Someone must of donated a collection as they had them all up on the glass case. I just happened to see this one in the toy section yesterday, guess it got dumped there once it went half price. I also got this Fire King cup for 40 cents. It's very brightly colored and cheery (picture isn't so good). I'm planning to make a little Easter decoration with it.
I got Pyrex thrifting and at the antique/vintage malls. I posted those at the Pyrex Collective here if you wanna see!
I'm linking up with Sir Thrift-A-Lot at Thriftasaurus, he's got some sweet finds posted today!

Every so often, I come across Franciscan pieces at the thrifts. I pass them up because they aren't anything that I collect. Well next time, I won't leave them behind! Since you are in Oregon, we can always arrange a meet up and I can give them to you :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Thanks Erica!

I think I told you this already Evie-but I also collect Franciscan Oasis. I love Starburst but couldn't afford it-but then I fell totally in love with the Oasis, which was (at least then) more plentiful and less expensive. Are those mugs the Indian Summer pattern? One of our antique stores has had some items before, and the pattern really calls to me :) I can't bring myself to pay their prices though.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen the Duet pattern before-it's lovely!
Yes Maureen, you and me both love Oasis!!!! I justified buying Starburst as I never bought any dishes outside of cheapos for the decades we were married and call this 'the china I never got'. I lucked out on Oasis and though it wasn't dirt cheap, it was so reasonable and I got it all at once.
DeleteThe mugs I recently got are Autumn Leaves. I only like the mugs in this pattern as the ground is too yellow for me, but okay for mugs only. I do have an Indian Summer mug, hubby uses it all the time. I recently saw about 15 pieces at the thrift, it was so hard not to pick them up. Really cute, but I have more dishes than I need already (sigh).
Duet is off the same eclipse molds as Starburst and Oasis and it's got the same ground color--it's really girly with it's fuchsia and pink!! I just love the shape of those dishes!
Evie
I love the idea that Starburst is the "china I never got"!. I get so much enjoyment out of using my Oasis-I am so happy I picked it up on ebay when it was still very reasonable. I picked up pieces over time-how wonderful you were able to get it all at once.
DeleteAutumn Leaves-I will have to check that pattern out. I adore the Indian Summer-you saw 15 pieces at a thrift?? (fans myself frantically) I think I would pass out if I saw that! I also have lots of dishes, but I know I could winnow for Indian Summer!
The Indian summer berry bowls were so sweet, the shape is so different--shallow, it was hard not to buy them. Shucks Maureen, I would have been willing to pick them up and send them to you had I only known.

I see the pieces you're hunting for from time to time in the thrifts too, but too bad, I'm in Canada, too far!!
ReplyDeleteJill--Well if you ever are willing to list them on ebay, you would make money! Let me know first though ha-ha!

Well what fun things you found! I love that small fire king cup, so cute!! :) xo Holly
