What's Happenin'?!!! - I've Been Busy

I feel like I'm neglecting my blog.  Doesn't help that hubby brought home a bug from school and I wasn't lucky enough to not catch it.  I'm spending more time in the kitchen, getting back to what I need to do in terms of my demanding diet.  Yesterday I cleaned my refrigerator.

I needed to pick up some groceries and do some prep and such, but I just couldn't let one more day pass before cleaning it out.  And yes, there's a bunch of Pyrex in my fridge and I love it!

I've got this weird diet where I don't eat gluten or highly starchy foods.  Bread of course is one of those things you can cry over when you can't eat it.  I found a recipe for a substitute, it's a pita, naan, tortilla kind of thing and it has changed my life!  Here is a breakfast sammich I made the other day with one of the 'breads' with some of my favorite vintage ware.

And I have steadily been bartering for broken Pyrex to make jewelry.  Here are a couple pendants I shipped off yesterday to ladies that sent me glass.  The maple leaf is Hazel Atlas.

And vintage finds  from last month...

Cute set of Nantucket soup cups made in Japan...

Vintage Pendelfin bunnies in bed from England...

Hubby found Neil the Frog canisters to go with his other pieces and I got a pair of Miss Cute Pie shakers.

Foulard Pyrex mugs, Mary Hadley mugs, turquoise fondant/cookie cutters from Wilton made in Hong Kong and a sweet anthropomorphic creamer.

I've missed checking out other blogs and seeing what everyone is up to and all the cool stuff they've found.  I need to carve out sometime to do that!  I'm going to link up with Sir Thrift-A-Lot over at Thriftasaurus, check it out here.  I spied a Pyrex Horizon Blue 024 over there!!!!

  2. Maddie and I are slowly working our way into a Gluten free diet. It can be a lot of work! The bread part is definitely the most difficult.

Love all that you've been finding. Those soup mugs are so cool! I've started collecting those in the last several months and find that I reach for them all the time.

Hope you are getting to feeling better, Evie!

    1. Yes it is a tough one Erica, especially the baked goods. When I only went gluten free there were still options, some nice mixes you can pick up at MOC or order online and even Udi's breads have popped up locally . But I had to stop doing tapioca, potato starch, rice flour etc. And that was a killer. Here's a site with some recipes I'll post for ya. I'm going to make the new bread recipe posted yesterday, it looks soooo easy!!

Us too! The soup cups get used more and more around here!

  3. Hello, I've just found your blog from following a link on thriftasaurus!

I love your pyrex-y fridge, I use my pyrex for fridge organisation too.

Your Pendelfin bunnies caught my eye, I used to collect them when I was a little girl, my grandparents lived near the factory that made them (in Burnley, Lancashire) and I once went on a tour and saw them being made! I have a whole box full of bunnies in my mums garage, seeing yours has made me want to find them and put some on display!

    1. Hi Susie and thanks for stopping by! Pyrex can inspire organization don't you think! :0)

How neat that you visited the factory where the Pendelfin were made--what a neat memory! Hope you find that box of bunnies!!

  5. I love your re-purposed Hazel Atlas, Pyrex, FireKing glass for jewellery. I especially love that maple leaf. Would be great on Canada Day, July 1st !! I glimpsed the red Cinderella bowl. Love the vibrant colour. Is it the elusive Gooseberry pattern in red? You lucky duck!!!

    1. Laura, the red gooseberries are JAJ (England) and they made a nesting bowl set, a promo with lid and cradle (which I have) and casseroles. I'd love more pieces, but naturally they are hard to come by in the US.
